PIKOM, or the Association of the Computing and Multimedia Industry is an association made up of more than 700 companies in the areas of computing and multimedia. It is represents the Information and Communication Technology industry that works very closely with the government in providing input and feedback of the industry’s needs in order to develop this sector further. Members of PIKOM include primarily companies in the computer and communications sector encompassing retailers, software and hardware developers and vendors, network and system integrators and many more.
Established in 1986, PIKOM has grown very much over the years, representing a strong voice of the industry in various dialogues with other industries as well as the government to ensure a stable and proper growth of the industry. PIKOM works very closely with the various agencies to ensure that the quarters involved in the industry are well represented when feedback is required. On top of that, the role of PIKOM includes education the people at large about the benefits of computing, growing the market for retailers and suppliers through roadshows like the very popular PC Fair. Being one of the few industry centric agencies around, PIKOM is responsible in spearheading any efforts to build the information technology sector, providing the platform for solution providers to meet and solve any issues pertaining to the industry.
PIKOM is a member so The Asian Oceanian Computing Industry Organization, or ASOCIO which is the network of ICT Companies in around the member countries of the association. The association is represented by 18 countries in around Asia and another 5 from America and Europe. PIKOM is also a member of WITSA or World Information Technology and Services Alliance and the Asia & Pacific Internet Association or APIA.
